To operate Intrastate (locally), the permits you need are:

  • Secretary of State (SOS) Registration.
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN) is a unique number that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) assigned to your company.
  • USDOT is a unique number for businesses that operate as cargo carriers in the United States. It must be registered through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
  • The Annual Road Tax Form (2290), this Tax is paid to the IRS to use the roads (vehicles weighing more than 55,000lbs).
  • RANDOM TEST DRUGS & ALCOHOL/CLEARINGHOUSE if applicable (when having a commercial driver’s license and operating a commercial vehicle that weighs more than 26,000lbs).
  • Depending on the state you decide to operate, you will have to get special permits such as TXDMV – CA# – MCP – etc.

To operate Interstate, you need:

  • Secretary of State (SOS) Registration.
